Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a rapidly growing healthcare technology that effectively treats pain by using a specific frequency to treat each tissue that is creating a problem. FSM treats pain and all types of inflammation by using the principle of bio-resonance.
FSM is currently used by professional sports teams including about 50% of all NFL teams, riders in the Tour de France, Major League soccer, baseball and more. More importantly, there are over 5000 practitioners in 68 countries using FSM microcurrent to treat everyday people like you and me. Some of these clinics are well known like the Cleveland Clinic, but many are individual practitioners like us at Utah Sports and Wellness. The Medical disciplines which employ FSM include but are not limited to: Pediatrics, Surgery, Dentistry, Rheumatology, Urology, Sports Medicine, Chiropractic, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Acupuncture and Licensed Massage Therapists
FSM is painless and works at a cellular level by treating each specific tissue located in the problem area. For example, with a shoulder injury we would first diagnose the core tissue problem and test it. Next, we would address the “breakdown order” of the other tissues involved. In the shoulder, this might look like treating the tendon and ligaments first then addressing the joint capsule, and finishing with the muscle and fascia. The back pain protocol would be to treat nerves, the disc, spinal cord, tendon and muscles. Each tissue (nerve, disc, muscle, etc.) has a specific frequency that must be addressed for sustainable results.
Creating an FSM protocol for solving the patient’s problem is a little bit like being a safecracker; you know there’s a combination to open the door (or fix the patient’s problem); you must understand the physiology of the area and try a variety of combination sequences. Depending on the complexity of the case, we may use anywhere from 2-4 FSM machines with each treatment.
We understand FSM might sound a little “out there” to some patients. We get it. That’s why our website has links to published research, articles, and videos, which provides a deeper dive for patients interested in learning more.

How Often Will I Need Treatment?
The number of treatments needed depends on the condition being treated and the individual patient. Some patients may see improvement after just one treatment, while others may require several treatments to see results. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. Most patients see at least a 50% improvement in symptoms in 4-6 FSM sessions. Generally speaking, visits are scheduled for 60 minutes, one to two times per week.
Will FSM Help My Pain?
Frequency Specific Microcurrent can treat some very difficult-to-manage conditions because it treats tissues that cannot be reached with other forms of manual therapy. Research has shown FSM to be remarkably helpful in treating pain. The treatment can show almost immediate benefits without the addictive or negative side effects that come from traditional solutions such as over-the-counter or prescription medication. Once the tissue is changed and stable, it can stay in the new configuration with proper nutritional support.
Microcurrent works best when the patient is very hydrated,, as water decreases tissue resistance to the current. Please drink at least 32 oz. of water in the 4-hour window before and after your FSM treatment. We realize this can be inconvenient, but it can dramatically increase your results.
